Your indexing just got streamlined.

Faster, cleaner, more enjoyable, all without sacrificing quality.

Built by working indexers. Launching October 2026.

SeeAlso puts the proofs and your index in one workspace. Select a term, and the entry and its page reference are already there.

Page numbers captured on selection, never typed

The thinking was never the slow part.

A PDF viewer in one window. An indexing program in another. Maybe Word in a third. You read, you decide, and then you spend all your time moving from one application to another — copying a term, typing a page number, double checking and alphabetizing.

On a 300-page book, that extra work adds up to hours.

SeeAlso is here to change that.

The tool does the organizing for you, so you can focus on meaningful connections

One workspace, built around the proofs.

In SeeAlso, the index is built within the book itself. You select a term on the page, and the entry appears with its page reference attached. No copying, no window switching, no typing numbers you can already see.

Everything after that — subentries, cross-references, restructuring, revising — happens in the same place, in whatever order you work.

How SeeAlso works

  • Upload and manage projects

Start a project from the page proofs and pick up exactly where you left off, across as many books as you’re working on.

  • Build your index your way

Select terms, add subentries, and write cross-references in the order that suits the book—SeeAlso doesn’t impose a sequence.

  • Export a fully-formatted index

Produce a finished, correctly formatted index ready to hand to the publisher.

Andrew Ascherl, chief indexer at SeeAlso

Built by someone who indexes for a living.

SeeAlso is led by Dr. Andrew Ascherl, a professional indexer with a dozen years of experience and hundreds of books indexed. We started with Andrew’s frustration, moving between applications to do something that should have happened in one. Every design decision came out of that experience, then went back to other professional indexers to be tested against how they actually work. The result keeps the judgment with the indexer. Nothing enters an index without your approval.
