Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information SeeAlso Labs ("we," "us," or "our") collects through the SeeAlso website, why we collect it, and what choices you have. It applies to visitors to this website; it does not yet cover the SeeAlso application itself, which does not have a public launch or account system as of this writing.

Who we are

SeeAlso Labs is the company behind SeeAlso, indexing software built by professional indexers. [TODO: add your registered business address here — many privacy laws require a physical or mailing address for the data controller.]

Information we collect

We collect information in a few limited ways, all of them things you choose to give us:

• Contact form: your name, email address, subject, and whatever message you write to us.

• Request a Demo form: your name, email, organization, role, and details about your session request.

• Email signup (the site's signup popup, available from any page): your email, and optionally your name, what you index, and how you found SeeAlso.

• Website usage data: through Google Analytics, we automatically collect standard analytics information such as pages visited, general location (city/region level), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. This is collected via cookies — see "Cookies and analytics" below.

We do not currently collect payment information through this website; the product is not yet available for purchase online.

How we handle your manuscripts and page proofs — HIGH PRIORITY, needs your input

This section matters more than any other on this page. Indexers work with unpublished, often confidential page proofs, and the people we're building this for need to trust how that material is handled before they'll use the product.

[TODO: this section needs real, accurate answers before publishing — do not guess or reuse generic language here. Specifically: (1) Where are uploaded manuscripts/page proofs stored, and for how long? (2) Who — which people or systems — can access them? (3) Are they used for anything besides producing the index (e.g. product improvement, training, analytics)? (4) What happens to a manuscript after a project is finished or deleted? (5) Are files encrypted in transit and at rest?]

Get this reviewed and made accurate before launch. Vague or incorrect answers here will cost more trust with professional indexers than almost anything else on the site.

How we use your information

We use the information above only to:

• Respond to demo requests you send us through the Request a Demo form, and to emails you send us.

• Send you the emails you signed up for (launch updates, product news, or newsletter content), if you subscribed.

• Understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve it.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising targeting.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to help us understand aggregate visitor behavior (for example, which pages are most useful). Analytics cookies are not set until you actively accept them in the cookie banner shown on your first visit — we don't track you before you say yes.

You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer of any page. Rejecting also removes any analytics cookies already set in your browser.

[TODO: have a lawyer confirm this banner and approach are sufficient for your actual visitor base — especially if you expect meaningful traffic from the EU/UK or California, where specific consent rules apply.]

Third-party services

We share information with a small number of service providers who help us run this website, and only for that purpose:

• Mailchimp — processes and stores email addresses submitted through any signup form on this site, so we can send you email updates. See Mailchimp's own privacy policy for how they handle your data.

• Google Analytics — processes website usage data as described above. See Google's privacy policy for how they handle this data.

• [TODO: confirm this policy names Mailchimp (Intuit) as the service that receives both launch-list signups and Request a Demo submissions, and links to its privacy policy.]

Data retention

We keep contact and demo-request messages as long as reasonably necessary to respond to and follow up on your inquiry. Email addresses collected for our newsletter or launch list are kept until you unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe from any email at any time using the link in that email, or by contacting us directly.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain uses of it. To exercise any of these rights, email us and we'll respond as soon as we reasonably can.

[TODO: if you expect meaningful traffic from the EU/UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA), have a lawyer confirm this section covers what those laws specifically require — the language above is a general, good-faith starting point, not a compliance guarantee.]

Children's privacy

This website is intended for professional adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

International visitors

SeeAlso Labs is based in [TODO: your country]. If you're visiting from elsewhere, understand that your information may be processed in [TODO: your country] and by service providers located in other countries (including the United States, for Mailchimp and Google Analytics).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site and product evolve — for example, once the product itself launches and has its own account system. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do.
